Project: Shades / Shades is a corner bar and culture club under the tracks of Central Station, Eora/Sydney. Shades is built on the belief that cities have layers. They need underground spaces where people can feel free, express themselves and have a good time. The bar’s namesake was lifted from the bar in the 1989 film Mystery Train — a film where three different storylines unfold. The brand is made up of layers of textures, clashing colours, abstracted images and distroted type. It embraces mess, complexity and whim. Shades is fun, silly, freaky and loud and so is its brand.
